Most traders should avoid Apex Trader Funding
I strongly believe most traders should avoid Apex Trader Funding unless they are already professional traders who know exactly what they are doing and only want to scale through multiple accounts. In my opinion, Apex’s only clear advantage compared with many other prop firms is that it allows traders to manage up to 20 accounts. Almost everything else feels like a disadvantage. First, the rules are stricter than many other mainstream prop firms, and some requirements can feel unclear or hidden until you actually go through the process. Apex has been losing competitiveness and market share over the years, and although they introduced updates in 2026, their rules still feel like some of the least trader-friendly in the industry. Second, and more importantly, the payout process is very poor. For traders, payout reliability and speed are one of the most important factors when choosing a prop firm. With Apex, delays, long waiting periods, and repeated communication with support seem to be common issues. The process takes time at every step: from payout request to approval, and then from approval to the money actually arriving in the trader’s account. In practice, each payout cycle can take around two weeks or even longer. There are also many reports in the trading community of payout requests being denied due to unclear or complicated rules. Compared with many other prop firms where payout requests are simple and funds can arrive very quickly, Apex performs very badly in this area. In my recent case, I submitted a payout request on May 1. As of May 14, the payout still has not arrived. Based on the current situation, I would not be surprised if it takes until around May 20 to finally receive the funds. Customer support is another major pain point. In 2026, in the middle of the AI era, Apex still relies heavily on email-style support forms instead of offering real-time AI agent support or proper live chat. Even during business hours, there is no reliable instant support. Replies can take anywhere from several hours to several days, which creates a very frustrating user experience. Overall, I would only recommend Apex to professional or consistently profitable traders who want to expand their account size and are willing to deal with strict rules, slow payouts, and weak customer support. For everyone else, especially beginners or traders looking for a smoother and more user-friendly experience, I believe there are much better prop firms available.
